Bogoff was a Chicago based (Spear Novelty) company that appears to have opened around 1940 and closed in the early 1960’s. The costume jewelry company was apparently called Gay Bee for at least part of this time. Known for its distinctive chains and elegant designs, it has proven to have a large fan base among collectors. Plating on the higher end pieces is almost always rhodium, and almost all of the rhinestone pieces contain at least one dentelle (fancy cut and more expensive round rhinestone). Earrings may be clip or screwback, and rhinestones are almost always paste-set.
These earrings are exceptional with a serious dazzle factor due to the positioning of these stones, instead of facing forward, they’re angled in a position that catches the light in an extraordinary way and reminds one of a dangling cluster of flowers and grapes. These pieces are superbly elegant and romantic!
Earrings are signed, in excellent vintage condition and measure 1.75″ in length and are listed for $22.00 USD
